Last Valentine’s Day, the Boyfriend picked me up from work. When we arrived at his house, he led me to his backyard. I was awed at what was set up for me. A canopy/tent lit with candles, lined with those christmas lights, floor spread with rose petals, and each corner of the tent had flowers that I love ( tulips, carnations, roses, and orchids). A rug was laid out with throw pillows and a table with food for two and some red wine. He even had a little heater near me so I wouldn’t get cold because it was super windy and rainy outside. We just stared at each other as we ate our food.
Then he gave me a heart-shape box of chocolate and these lovely box of deep red roses. It was beautiful. I handed him his cologne that I had got for him. And as we sat cuddling in the tent, he sang Forever Ain’t Enough. The lyrics just did it for me and I cried.
It was the most wonderful & thoughtful Valentine’s Day I’ve ever had. No, we didn’t go out to some place fancy like we usually do. I loved that it was all set up by him for us to share the moment together without having any one there to be a part of it. Kinda like our relationship: we do it for us, and it’s all about us, no one else matters.
I just had to blog this because I think this is really what Valentine’s Day should be about. It’s about showing that you really love someone. It’s not about taking your girlfriend to a fancy dinner or whether you get her chocolate or roses. It’s about EFFORT. I admit, sometimes I fall into this whole charade of fancy dinners and receiving roses, but deep down I just want to know that the person I love loves me enough to put some thought into a day spent with me.
blog this because...think this is really...Valentine’s Day...
